Caye Caulker Activities

While relaxing by the pool or reading a book on the dock are popular island pastimes, there are plenty more activities on Caye Caulker to keep you entertained. With the second largest barrier reef nearby, snorkeling and diving are among the favorites. Fishing, paddle boarding, kitesurfing, and other water sports are also easily accessible. Weezie’s offers its guests use of paddle boards, kayaks and canoes free of charge; however, if you are looking for greater adventure there are local shops on the island that provide half day and full day trips of various activities. Another favorite is to just cruise around the island on bikes and explore all that it has to offer.  Weezie’s has bikes for rent at $5 usd per day. If you feel like adventuring off the island one day, there are great mainland excursions as well such as cave tubing, ziplining, and tours of the Mayan ruins.

Weezie’s recommends Jose Tours for your mainland excursions. As these are generally full day trips, you will take one of the first ferries from Caye Caulker which is around 6:30 am. Jose will pick you up at the ferry terminal in Belize City. From there you will do the tour of your choice, all of which can be found on his website, and then he will bring you back to the ferry terminal to catch the 4:30 or 5:30 pm boat back to Caye Caulker. Some of our personal favorite mainland tours were the Lamanai Ruins and the Belize Zoo Adventure. One piece of advice is to book your tours on days that the cruise ships are not in port.
